Wisdom Teeth Removal

posted in: General Dentistry | 0

When a person is in their upper teen years or even early adulthood, the last teeth to erupt are the wisdom teeth, also known as third molars. Because they are the final teeth to arrive as we are maturing and growing, they are called “wisdom” teeth.

A small percentage of people never grow wisdom teeth. But for the vast majority who do, there can be up to four. Wisdom teeth that come in correctly are beneficial for chewing and are a part of a healthy mouth.

Unfortunately, due to their later arrival after all other permanent teeth are in place, wisdom teeth can pose some real concerns. They often come in crooked, are blocked by other teeth, or become impacted.  Additionally, wisdom teeth can cause misalignment and threaten recently completed orthodontia, which creates the need for their removal.

Extracting wisdom teeth is one of the most common dental surgeries performed across the United States and throughout the world. At Pacific Sky Dental, Dr. Jone is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and techniques to facilitate this relatively simple surgery.

It’s normal to feel anxious about dental treatment. We offer several sedation options to ease you and maximize your comfort, as well as other office amenities to make your experience a pleasant one. Our sedation options include:

Oral Conscious Sedation – this method utilizes oral medication, a pill, that is taken about an hour before the removal. You will be awake, but you will be relaxed and won’t remember the procedure.

Nitrous Oxide – also known as laughing gas, this is a mild form of sedation that is inhaled through your nose and exhaled through your mouth.

DentalVibe – this revolutionary device administers a vibration at the same time the anesthesia is injected. The vibration races ahead of the of the injection sensation to offer a practically painless application of anesthesia.

At Pacific Sky Dental, we offer gentle and expert wisdom teeth removal. Contact us today to discuss all of your dental needs.
